In a recent article, 10 Tips for Obtaining Search Engine Friendly Outside Links
I talked about the ways to receive search engine friendly outside links into your site. The importance of outside links into your site is invaluable. Your rank through Google is directly related to the amount of links pointing to your site.
Here is just one method to get at least one link into your site, or add a link into your site with little to no cost. write about us is a company that offers these outside links for free, all you have to do is write about them on your blog or web site and they'll add your URL to the site!
"One of the way to get traffic is to include your site in free directory or homepage directory. A recent debut, Write About Us, has become a hub for traffic. You need to bid to get on the page and stay there for long. The good news is, they allow free links..."

7. YouOS
An Entire Operating System that can run straight from your browser. Talk about virtual capability. Bridging Ajax Applications and internet browser technology, the YouOS takes #7 on the list.
8. Dell XPS M2010

9. Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 750 GB

13.Sony BWU-100A Blu-Ray Disc Rewritable Drive

Gamers every where thanking the video game gods. A multicore cell processor. Blu-ray. Wi-Fi. A custom-designed nVidia graphics chip. A motion-sensing, wireless controller. We've seen many of these technologies before, but Sony gets major points for managing to pack all of them into one machine.
17. RIM Blackberry Pearl 8100
The RIM's network held blackberry together this year, with all the new innovations in cell phone and internet technology. Not to mention their integration of the multi-media craze: 1.3-megapixel camera, an audio player, and a video player to the usual BlackBerry features.
18. Rhapsody 4.0
Added two features that further separate it from the PC. The Sonos Digital Music System, connects directly to Rhapsody, without a PC. It also loads new songs in that categories that you choose when you connect a compatible portable player.
19. Logitech Newlooq
Heavy hockey puck-size dome that sits stationary on your desk, gives you lots of new ways of moving around your PC. Though it's targeted at design pros, it can help anyone who needs more control than a mouse and a scroll wheel offer.

Live Auction: Jewelry Bidding was never this fun!
Bidz.com is an auction site, offering the MOST in LIVE auction entertainment, competitive pricing, and quality pictures and descriptions.
Since E-bay became such a big player in our internet universe, there have been other sites attempting to mimick the "auctions" that were so very addictive. The concept is great, consumers get the very best prices on used (or new) products because the market has got serious competition. I'm sure, everyone can say that have made at least one purchase on Ebay.com...whether jewelry, rings, diamond bracelets, CDs, Band T-Shirts, or vintage chanel.
Bidz.com only offers jewelry right now, men and women's jewelry. But, it is super fun to bid on their jewelry products, ranging from: diamond rings to men's watches. Why? Because it is completely live, and you can see, in action, who is bidding against you, where they're from and what their new bid is. Another great aspect of bidz.com, is that you always get huge, detailed pictures of the products with extensive descriptions. No more "Mystery" jewelry, as some sellers on E-bay try and ploy their products.
Get $10 off your first bid with this coupon:
$10 Off Your First Winning Bid at Bidz.com. Click Here.
Bidz.com is a great site, with a huge selection of jewelry items and accessories. I have never been to such a well maintained and entertaining auction site, or selling site for that matter! Check it out, the bids are completely live, you come in and come out whenever you want, it is free to start and soooo much fun! :)

ISECOM: Top Ten Feared Illegal Computer Activity of 2007
ISECOM: The Institute of Security and Open Methodologies
ISECOM released a list of the Top Ten Real Computer Crimes of 2007, geared towards the general public...The not-so-nerdy, not-so-technical group of individuals who also use their computer.
Humorous as it is, the funny part about this Top Ten List of Computer Crimes is that it holds a lot of water, and is probably true! I guess all humor brings light to idiotic truths about the human race in some way shape or form, that's what makes it so funny to those who know better.
Of course, I don't want to steal the whole article, the witty author does deserve credit, but no harm in pulling my favorites from the list, in case you don't have time to read them all :)
"2. You will misplace, lose, over-write, and delete documents probably accidentally but you really can't remember if you really had that document saved or not and maybe it's this one here but you don't know because when you try to open it you get a CRC error and you'll realize that nobody warned you that the ever-decreasing life of these huge hard-drives you can now buy have fallen to just under 2 years."
I really enjoyed this excerpt. I think it's so funny when one of those members "general public" tell me they have deleted either:
1. All of their Outlook E-Mail
2. A Folder in their "My Documents"
3. All their pictures
4. Passwords for their Hotmail, Yahoo, (insert other free internet E-Mail Accounts) E-Mail Account...This one is really good, they think they'll NEVER be able to check their mail again!
I always say, and they never believe,
"It's on your computer, it hasn't been deleted into oblivion forever, it's just been misplaced."
In case you were wondering, Outlook E-Mails, deleted or not, are always saved or archived in .pst files. Just browse your hard drive for the extension. But, if your Outlook is Compacting your E-Mails and you close out your computer or the Outlook program before it finishes. Sometimes the files will be damaged, lost or...yes...deleted into oblivion. Just let your E-Mails compact, it won't destroy your E-Mail world, promise.
While we're on the subject, a way to avoid having your E-Mails collapse, or rather placed into non-existent directories, or damaged, etc. is to not have 4 billion E-Mails in any one folder. Separate your Inbox into months, topics whatever. Same with sent mail if it's large. Just a tip if you've had that problem!
Alright, on to more funnies...
"4. You'll get spyware and adware and everything else just from browsing distant Korean servers for torrents, swapping files with "friends" you just met on IM, and accepting SMSes from unknown people. You may also get chlamydia or worse if you troll seedy places and accept sexual invitations with as many unknown people as you do electronically so no surprises there."
Alright, not so funny. I actually did get spyware on my computer while searching for a keygen code for bootlegged CS2. I had it coming, I know. But for all of the copyright Nazis out there, I ended up buying the program and spending 3 weeks trying to fix my computer. :(
"5. If your phone is also a computer or your TV is also a computer or your oven is also a computer and they're running some open networking protocol like Bluetooth all the time which you never read the manual on how to shut it off, expect that bad people are happy to do bad things to them just like if you leave kids running around in public places unattended then bad people may do bad things to them as well with the odds basically being the same for all of it all happening."
This is just cute, funny and true. But, really, I don't think any of the media crazed youth read manuals anymore. We just inherently know how to use everything!

Google Base: Free Product or Article Marketing
Google Base is another tool developed by Google, that offers anyone signed up, which it is free, to post articles, products, advertisements, press releases and more for free and right away! It is a great way to market your website or advertise products that you sell with absolutely nothing to lose and no investment.
Also, once listed on Google Base, it is put inside their directory to be viewed by all Google search engine users. It is still a newer development by Google, like a lot of their webmaster tools right now, but I can PERSONALLY vouch for it as I have seen some great results by publishing a few articles on Google Base.
Once you publish an article, product, etc on Google Base, you will be able to see specific results from Clicks, views and impressions. Pretty great, huh! I would consider it a better investment of time, than submitting to other free directories like E-Zines. Only, because I think we can truly count on Google to build the Google Base up until it's HUGE! Anyway, great source for marketing and/or selling, check it out! http://www.google.com/base/

Google Groups Beta: Get Your Real Estate Now!
Google offers many assets to web masters, bloggers and internet users. They have an entire platform with different types of tools that can be used to track website traffic, sell ad space, post on directories, etc. Their toolbar is also an amazing asset for all web professionals as it offers immediate website ranking information, spell check, and lots of other customizable options for users.
Google Groups is a Google tool I came across just last night while playing with their vast array for performance utilities. I noticed that the Google Group Beta version has just recently come out, and that it is VERY easy to begin a Google Group. It is also free, and can be used for many different things.
I predict that the Google Group names will go fast, and just like purchasing a hot URL name, if you have interest in anything particular, from Google, to Blogging to MP3 players, you should sign up for a group and stake you real estate before someone else does!
Here are some things that the Google Groups Offer:
1. Administrative abilities--You can give other users and those who join the ability to be an administrator
2. Mass E-Mail and mailing list options
3. Tracking system
4. File Upload and Download (!!) Very cool
These are some of the uses that Google Groups could have:
1. Manage a project with multiple contributors
2. Market a website, idea, group that already exists
3. School projects
4. Group Books, contributing authors, etc.
It's kind of like a small Content Management system, with the administrative abilities and contributing abilities. But, Google will List your Group in their directory so you get automatic exposure. Also it is really easy to begin a new group and start e-mailing those who may be interested.
Sign up for the Google Groups at http://groups.google.com/

Top 7 Search Engine Predictions of 2007
I recently came across an article on the top 7 predictions of 2007 for search engines. It is pretty interesting, and it talks about some of the new technologies within search, and search engines that might develop during 2007.
The article describes them as "Evolutionary Changes" and I think that is a great way to talk about the way the internet is evolving. Google is at the forefront of the technology, developing new search tools and search engine technologies into fruition.
A Quote from Bill Gates about search technology,
''…Search today is still kind of a hunt, where you get all these links, and as we teach software to understand the documents, really read them in the sense a human does, you'll get answers more directly…''
—Bill GatesHere are some experts from the article, but please visit Seven Search Evolutions of 07'
From NewsWire
These are my favorite Predictions for Search Engine Evolution of 07':
3. The first time that search results will include highlighted best
sentences as a result of semantic analysis rather than bolded
keywords as a result of finding incidences.
5. The first time a search engine will let users evaluate answers
on the spot by displaying uninterrupted and coherent text
snippets, often letting searchers forgo having to click through
to links and saving time.
6. The first time a search engine will have a dialogue utility that
will help point out best answers or suggest a Gallery for a more
engaging human-like search experience.

Google Customizes Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7
Google has released a customized version of Microsoft's IE7. The customizes browser uses Google as the default search engine, not Windows Live Search. Google also released a customized IE7 browser with the Google Toolbar and a user customizable Google Home Page.
Apparently Google, Yahoo and other big name corporations simply used the Internet Explorer Administration Kit to customize the home page for their users. It is a free download by Google, and is probably not what Microsoft expected from their new Internet Explorer 7 browser.
Microsoft Group Program manager Tony Chor addressed the new Google customized IE7 browser on Microsoft's IEBlog,
"Microsoft released the toolkit so developers could customize IE, as well as to provide companies with help to configure and deploy the browser through the enterprise..."
Maybe Microsoft needs to take notes from MAC and start developing tools that can't be integrated into every other technological outlet available. Or, maybe the exposure will be a great tool for them.
Hopefully the IE7 browser won't have any bugs, because we all know how Microsoft likes to release brand new versions of their products instead of fixing the problem...Always leading to more Beta Bugs. We'll see, but one thing I know for sure, if Google's on board with IE7, it can't be all bad!

Peter Belisi: From Bartender to Big Shot
Web Designers and Internet Enthusiasts are always trying to find a way to materialize their next big idea. We are born to work for ourselves, because of our understanding and close proximity to the internet moguls we admire and appreciate like Mark Zuckerberg and Tom Anderson.
Peter Belisi did just this, though in his own very different, creative way. He didn't invent the next big online community, search engine or innovative technology idea. He created a unique line of accessories that are a product of a novel concept to start his own company. He worked as a bartender in the elite area of Palm Beach, Fl. Observing his high-end clientele and their trendsetting fashion, he began to use his own creative by designing unique and luxurious ties. At first, co-workers started to notice his inspirational tie accessories. They started to request some of his fashions for themself. From this initial interest and admiration, Peter Belisi invested the very little money that he had in an accessory collection of his own.
Accessories are the finishing pieces to any well-heeled look—done the right way, you present a polished picture to the world. The Belisi Brand was founded to enhance luxury wardrobes, while making the world a little brighter for everyone. Belisi—a name already synonymous with beauty—has earned a loyal following for its high-end, quality ties, and most recently scarves and handbags. Visit Belisi.com to view his latest collection, and be part of a true American rags to luxurious richest story!

TV Networks Discussing YouTube Rival
An anonymous reader writes "Reuters is carrying a story indicating that NBC, CBS, Fox, and Viacom are considering banding together to work on a competitive video-hosting site. The goal would be to provide an alternative to Google's YouTube, and presumably direct some revenue in their direction." From the article: "While a deal is still far off, the four media companies envision a jointly owned site that would be the primary Web source for videos from their television networks, the paper said in an online report on Wsj.com, citing people close to the situation. The companies aim to cash in on the fast-growing market of Web video advertising and have also discussed building a Web video player that could play clips, the Journal said. "

It discusses the issue that is stirring up heat all over the print industry: Will online media replace print media? The focus is on newspapers and reporting, he talks about the ways in which the print industry is coping with the ever growing online journalism freely available over the web.
The Newspaper Industry seems to be quite unsure as to how they will find ways to compete with the free news reports available online, and what their business model will look like once they produce or as they produce some kind of solution. Some industry professionals are convinced that free online news will replace Newspapers and the print media journalism industry as a whole. Larry Killman of the World Association of Newspapers, begs to differ this morbid argument.
"People have been predicting their death for years, television was going to kill newspapers, for example," -Larry Killman said
he goes on by saying,
"I think there is no doubt that growth in electronic media is the future, but there is still a future for print."
I couldn't agree more. The electronic availability of News Reporting does not mark the end of the Print Media or Newspapers for that matter. While Killman used the example of the initial concerns that television would replace newspapers, there are even more reasons to believe that the Newspaper industry will not fall flat just because of readily available news reports on the web.
Did the Digital Camera replace film cameras? Did the Photograph replace realistic paintings?
No, the Newspaper Industry is not going anywhere. We are simply witnesses to the next technology adjustment that quality, important and already existing industries will have to mold with. The business model for a Newspaper will need to change, but why wouldn't it change? Industries have to fix their business model every time the wind blows just to keep up with whatever niche market they're a part of. Offering partial services via the web, enticing their readers to purchase the paper, offering even more informative, valuable information in their Newspapers...These are just some of the things that will assist a Newspaper to keep up with its competitors.
David Reid uses The International Herald Tribune as an example of one of the Newspapers that are taking heed to the development of the internet and free news access over the web.
"The International Herald Tribune now sees itself as a media organisation rather than just a paper; their website features video stories and has taken the step of charging for premium content." -David Reid
Time will tell how the print industry, and Newspaper Industry will evolve to appease its readers. But, one thing is for sure, it can only get better. As we as a society grow and learn, we also demand more from the products and services that we so choose to utilize. A simple worm hole example of technology's influence on society, progess shaping way for the future.

Great Way to Monetize your Website
I recently came across "Text-Link-Ads" which is not a new company to me. I've been to their site numerous times, but I recently read an incredible review of the company from someone I trust and had to check it out again. Text-Link-Ads sells ad space, just like adsense or adbrite. But, the difference with this company is that the clients don't pay per click, they pay by the week! So, no matter how many people click (or don't click) the ad, you're still getting paid a flat fee. Every website I saw signed up with Text-Link-Ads was currently renting out space to one of Text-Link-Ads clients, so I assume they have enough to go around!
I just signed up, but it appears to be a very promising site, and I wish I had signed up with them before now! If you want to monetize your site, sell ad space on your blog, sell ad space on your site, or buy quality content rich links, you should definitely Monetize Your Site with Text-Link-Ads.
They're also offering $100 in FREE Links to new Advertisers...

Microsoft's Security Infrastructure: an inside look at their fight against 100,000 attacks per month
Last year, Microsoft IT said it was the target of more than 100,000 intrusion attempts per month. They are under constant scrutiny as to how they will protect themselves against hackers and intrusion attempts into their network. Microsoft holds very important information within it's internal network, like source code for it's operating systems and the Microsoft applications. Some security measure that Microsoft takes to defend itself by being behind firewalls and on networks segmented with IPsec. The Microsoft network is also monitored for suspicious activity, scanned for malware and much more.
Microsoft Corp. encourages its employees to "RAS" into the corporate network from home or from the road to access e-mail, shared files and applications. RAS stands for Remote Access Services. RAS is an old Microsoft term, now described and known as a client VPN. Within Microsoft's very vulnerable environment, VPN connections might cause some important security risks to materialize. This article offers an in depth answer to the question:
How does microsoft protect itself against security risks while continuing to offer VPN access to remote employees and contractors?
A simple summation and answer to this question, is that it requires two forms of authentification from it's users: Hardware authentification through access cards, and network access. And, the network connection has many requirements from the computer (external device...VPN Access) attempting to access it.
