Epocrates is a free web-based drug and formulary reference guide, they are currently adding new features to help out their users. Currently they have immediate access to the information needed to make prescribing decisions – such as drug dosing, drug interactions and health plan coverage. The enhancements will allow them to access mroe valuable resources.
Clinicians can reference Epocrates Online and see pictures, descriptions and other references so that no errors are made. Even medications as common as Zyrtec can be referenced for proper distribution and full patient-doctor understanding. They can also print out the pictures to offer patients for their own reference. Epocrates Online, also has a feature that allows question and answer information available at the patients finger tips in case they have any questions after leaving the doctor's office. The patient-friendly educational handouts are available in English or Spanish and can be printed or emailed.
The handouts answer questions like, What if I miss a dose? Should this be taken with food? Swallowed whole? What are the possible side effects?
Healthcare editors and publishers are encouraged to try Epocrates Online and contact Erica Sniad at 650-227-6907 or pr@epocrates.com for more information.
