There have been all kinds of developments lately with getting everyday citizens involved in journalism and mass distributed media. Influenced by the influx of Blog popularity, community websites, video distribution and publishing sites like Youtube.com and the public's general infatuation with "iconic images." CNN and the BBC among the media giants who are beginning to see the future in what is known as readers becoming reporters.
Oneo of the major factors in deciding to take this great leap into citizen journalism is the general public's interest in sites like Flickr and Youtube. With the popularity and power that comes with these sites, how can established news sites not take notice? While I'm sure that citizen journalism will not replace the quality news reports and professionalism communicated by sites like Yahoo News and Reuters, there is certainly a collision of media here.
